January 2008 |
Percy is a a real sweetie and just wants a home that will provide the love and attention he requires for the remainder of his life.
He only has a short stubby tail and has had some rotten teeth removed. He has a good temperament and is fairly undemanding but loves a cuddle.
He has basic recall but needs to be called with a firm command and a whistle. Is reasonably good with other dogs but prospective owners should
always exercise care and keep him on a lead with other dogs unless confident that he is socialised. Should not be re-homed with another male
dog but could share a home with a tolerant female.
He does have arthritis in his back legs but is responding well to joint supplements in his food. He doesn’t have any other health problems.
He can manage a 1 mile plus walk at a brisk walking pace quite easily and walks well on a lead without pulling. He also enjoys a short early
morning and late evening walk before bed time. He will play fetch with a ball and can run when in an open space but he cannot run fast due to
his rear legs.
While indoors, he does like hide chew sticks which will help to keep his teeth cleaner and give him something to do. He likes a bonio as an
occasional treat. He will sleep in a crate while any prospect owner is out but could be trusted if not crated. We would recommend a crate but
used with discretion. He doesn’t suffer from separation anxiety
